Directions

By road from the North

  • Leave the M3 motorway at Junction 14 following the signs for “A33 Southampton” (not Southampton Docks).
  • Take the A33 for 1.1 miles from the end of the motorway, then turn left at traffic lights into Burgess Road (A35).
  • Take the first right, 0.5 miles later at traffic lights, into University Road.
  • If we have reserved you a space in the Visitors’ Car Park take the first right into Salisbury Road and the car park is the first turning on the right. Look for the car park attendant’s cabin at the entrance to the Visitors’ Car Park.  Note: Visitors’ parking is by prior arrangement only –  we have to reserve you a space in advance.  If you have a space reserved,  turn into this car park.
  • If you need to drive to our building, eg to make a delivery, continue along University Road and after approximately 0.4 miles bear left into Welbeck Avenue, then almost immediately, turn left into Hartley Avenue.
  • At the end of Hartley Avenue, with Granby Grove ahead of you, turn left into the University site (one-way system).
  • Take the first right, then second left into a small car park. ISVR Consulting is in Building 15, the two-storey building adjacent to the car park, with labs on the ground floor (Rayleigh Labs) and offices and Reception (Room 2039) on the upper floor.

By road from the East or West.

  • Leave the M27 motorway at Junction 5. (Note: if approaching from the East Jn 5 follows Jn 7 – there is no Jn 6).
  • Take the A335 southbound towards Southampton. (Useful tip – there are two lanes here – if you move into the right-hand lane and don’t change lanes, you will be in the correct lane at all the following traffic lights.)
  • After 0.4 miles from the motorway continue straight ahead at traffic lights, then after 0.1 miles you will find three sets of traffic lights within 150 metres, with a McDonalds at the third set. Turn right at this third set, into Burgess Road (A35).
  • After 0.6 miles, turn left into University Road.
  • ISVR Consulting is in Building 15, the two storey adjacent to the car park, with labs on the ground floor (Rayleigh Labs) and offices and Reception (Room 2039) on the upper floor.

By Rail

Fast trains from London Waterloo reach Southampton Airport Parkway in 60 minutes or Southampton Central in 70 minutes. The Airport station is slightly closer than Southampton Central to the University.

Train times can be obtained from the National Rail , the Qjump or Thetrainline  web-sites.

Taxis are available from either station, from outside the Platform 1 exit at Southampton Airport Parkway, or both exits of Southampton Central.

Unilink buses provide a frequent service from each railway station to the University,  Maps and timetables can be found by following the links below.

  • From the Airport and Southampton Airport Parkway Station.  The U1C  Unilink bus service runs from the Airport and Southampton Airport Parkway Station (use the exit from the ‘down’ platform, Platform 2) to the Highfield Interchange in the centre of the University campus. Buses from the Airport and Parkway Station are usually every 7 or 8 minutes during weekdays, and the journey time is 15 minutes. There is a bus stop 50 metres from the station exit from Platform 2, one immediately outside the Airport terminal, and another stop on the opposite side of the road from the station, opposite the Premier Travel Inn.
  • From Southampton Central Station. The U2  Unilink bus services run from the Central Station (stop SA on Wyndham Place next to the junction with Blechynden Terrace) to the Highfield Interchange in the centre of the campus.  Buses depart every 7 or 8 minutes during the day and the journey time is about 20 minutes.
  • From the Campus to the Airport and Southampton Airport Parkway Station. The U1A  Unilink bus runs from the Highfield Interchange in the centre of the campus to the Airport and Southampton Airport Parkway Station.  The journey time is about 15 minutes and buses depart every 7 or 8 minutes during the day.
  • From the Campus to Southampton Central Station. The U2C Unilink bus service runs from the Highfield Interchange in the centre of the campus to Southampton Central Station north side (stop SF).  Buses depart every 7 or 8 minutes during the day and the journey time is about 20 minutes. It is also possible to use the U6C service to the southern entrance to the station, which runs every 15 minutes and takes about 30 minutes. (Note the U1C service no longer serves the Central Station.)

If coming by train from the Portsmouth and Brighton direction use Southampton Central Station. If coming by by train from the BournemouthPoole and Weymouth direction, the Southampton Central Station may be more convenient, but you can use either Southampton Central or Southampton Parkway.

By Air

Southampton Airport  is next to Southampton Airport Parkway Railway Station, just 10 minutes by taxi from the University, or take the Unilink bus (see above).

If you have a disability, and wish to check access to Our Facilities, these are available on the AccessAble (formerly DisabledGo) website. The main aim of AccessAble is to provide information for people with disabilities on access to organisations they wish to visit.  AccessAble provides information on access to our offices upstairs and the to the Rayleigh Laboratories downstairs, but please telephone or email us if you have any questions or requirements about access or parking.

The National Rail website gives accessibility details for Southampton Central  and Southampton Airport Parkway  stations, including links to station layout maps.  The Southampton Airport Special Assistance  web pages  give details of the airport and terminal accessibility.
